What’s Happening at IASL 2024?

Research & Professional Papers - Everyone who has a research or professional paper accepted will be asked to submit a pre-recorded 20 minute (Maximum) presentation in advance of the conference. These recorded presentations will be available on the conference management system before the first day of the conference. The proceedings with this year’s conference papers will be published in the fall.

Q & A - Live, moderated sessions featuring the researchers and presenters who had papers accepted. These Q&A sessions are designed for informal conversations with presenters about topics of interest to all school librarians. Q&A sessions will occur in different time zones and conference organizers will group people together based on geographic location and topic. Specific days and times for your Q&A session will be shared in early September. Q & A sessions will be recorded.

Hot Topics - Live conversations on topics of interest to school librarians will be scheduled everyday in each timezone. Topics might include AI in schools, reading promotion, genrefying the collection, censorship and book challenges, and more! We are looking for people to organize, moderate, and participate in these sessions. If you are interested, please reach out to the organizing committee with your idea!  Hot Topic sessions will be recorded.

Keynotes - This year’s IASL conference will feature 5 keynote speakers across 3 days. We are looking forward to welcoming David A. Robertson, Amanda Jones, Dr. Margaret Merga, Dr. Bella Zhang, and Professor Zhe as our keynote speakers. Keynotes will be recorded.

Panel Discussions - The IASL special interest groups (SIGs) are organizing panels on a variety of topics of interest to their groups. Additional panel sessions may be organized on different topics. Some panel sessions may be recorded.

SIG Meetings - The IASL special interest groups will meet at specific times during the conference.

IASL AGM - The Annual General Meeting for the IASL will be held on Saturday, October 27.

Opening & Closing Sessions - Opening and closing sessions will be scheduled in each of our three time zones. Feel free to join us for one (or more) of these sessions to connect with new attendees and friends and colleagues from previous IASL sessions.

First Timer Sessions - Is this your first IASL conference? Welcome - we’re so excited to have you join us at one of the first timer sessions that are scheduled for Saturday in different time zones. You will have a chance to meet other first timers, ask questions, and learn more about IASL!
